
La Pine to Open State-Funded Outdoor Education Park for Youth and Families
Lorimor Heritage Park will feature archery, clay targets, and fishing while hosting hunter safety and outdoor education programs.
La Pine, Oregon – August 20, 2025 – La Pine Parks and Recreation District (LPRD), in partnership with the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife (ODFW) and Three Rivers Archers, is proud to announce the development of the Lorimor Heritage Outdoor Education Park, a first-of-its-kind community and regional destination in Southern Deschutes County.
The 30-year lease agreement, recorded with Deschutes County earlier this month, secures 60 acres off 6th Street in La Pine to be transformed into a Sportsman’s Park that will serve both local residents and visitors from across Oregon. With 10-year extension options, this long-term investment ensures sustainability and growth for generations to come.
A Community Vision, Fully Funded by ODFW
The Lorimor Heritage Outdoor Education Park will be fully funded by ODFW through state grants and dedicated resources, making it a true gift to the La Pine community. The park will be maintained by LPRD and Three Rivers Archers, combining professional stewardship with community passion.

ODFW’s Ken Lofflink, Chief Operating Officer, added, “This partnership with La Pine Parks and Recreation is a model of how we can invest in rural Oregon communities while expanding access to safe, enjoyable outdoor education opportunities for all ages.”
